The market is too pessimistic about Apollo’s earnings durability. Financing activity and committed capital should support fee growth even without investment returns reaching management’s long-term assumption, supporting a twelve-month target of $141.00.
Key points
- 18% growth in our 2027 fee-earnings forecast supports the recovery.
- 10% annual returns on alternative investments underpin our retirement forecast.
- $141.00 a share is our twelve-month target, without an exceptional valuation.
The call
The price leaves room for disappointment. At our chosen 15 times earnings, it requires $7.69 a share of annual adjusted profit, below the second-quarter annual pace of $8.44. That comparison is conditional on the multiple, not proof that the market expects an earnings decline.

Apollo Q2 2026 segment results; June 30 10-Q filed August 10, 2026.
I expect fee growth to outweigh uneven investment returns. Capital awaiting deployment and financing fees recognized as Broadcom draws funds support earnings through 2027. I forecast a 59.5% fee-profit margin, only modestly above the latest quarter. Retirement earnings grow without alternative returns reaching management’s long-term assumption.
Valuation
| Driver | Our estimate |
|---|
| 2027 fee-related earnings | $3.71 billion |
| 2027 retirement spread earnings | $3.79 billion |
| 2027 adjusted net income | $5.88 billion |
| 2027 adjusted earnings per share | $9.40 |
| Twelve-month earnings multiple | 15 times |
| Twelve-month price target | $141.00 |
Adjusted earnings exclude specified accounting and compensation charges; they are not cash available to shareholders. The forecast includes $250 million of investment earnings, $400 million of financing costs, a 20% tax rate and 625 million diluted shares.
The financing franchise merits 15 times earnings, but insurance and credit risks limit the premium. Relative to a conservative 12 times benchmark, that franchise premium is about $28 a share. My weaker buy record argues against assuming a larger valuation rebound; weaker earnings at that benchmark produce a downside case near $92 a share.
Lower alternative returns need not erase the upsideOur October 8, 2026 estimates; Q2 return sensitivity held constant, all other assumptions unchanged.
Risks
- Credit losses could overwhelm fee growth; watch impairments, insurer capital and surrender activity, not consolidated cash alone.
- Financing drawdowns could slip; watch completed originations and transaction fees rather than announced commitments.
- Weak share momentum could persist; the stock trails the market over three, six and twelve months, while higher rates increase funding competition.
What would change my mind
I would withdraw the buy if, by June 2027, fee-earnings growth falls below 10% while retirement earnings decline year over year.
