Guidance of 1% to 3% organic sales and flat-to-3% core EPS does not support 21 times earnings. A 20 times multiple on $7 of FY27 core EPS points to $140 in twelve months.
Key points
- 1% to 3% organic sales is the fiscal 2027 guide, after 1% in fiscal 2026.
- $7.00 is the midpoint of core EPS guidance ($6.89 to $7.11), after $6.89 last year.
- 21 times that midpoint is what $147.82 requires; I use 20 times.
The call
The price requires the company to deliver the high end of sales and earnings while keeping a premium multiple. Fiscal 2026 organic growth was 1%, core EPS rose 1%, and operating margin fell as reinvestment ate $2.8 billion of productivity. First-quarter EPS is flagged down 5% or more.
I believe growth stays near 2% and costs stay sticky, so the multiple compresses. Category value growth is 1% to 3%. North America shipments lagged consumption in June. A $1.4 billion after-tax headwind (inputs, FX, interest) is 8% of last year’s core EPS. Share is only stable, not expanding.

Valuation
| Item | Figure |
|---|
| FY27 core EPS (my midpoint) | $7.00 |
| Multiple in 12 months | 20 times |
| Price target | $140 |
| Current price | $147.82 |
| Implied change | -5% |
| FY26 free cash flow / share | $6.52 |
Twenty times is still a quality premium for a 2% grower that pays a 2.9% dividend. Asymmetry is modest: the stock can grind with the market if costs ease, but it lacks 12% upside without a sales surprise. That is a hold, not a sell.

Risks
- Input costs fall faster than the $90 Brent assumption, lifting margins and the multiple.
- Tide Evo and China baby care scale enough to push organic sales above 3%.
- A sharper consumer slowdown cuts volume in baby and family care.
What would change my mind
A fiscal 2027 organic-sales print above 3% with core operating margin back above 23% would support a higher multiple.
