Record custody and fund assets drive double digit fee growth. After a 15% pullback, I see 15% upside to $192 on $14.20 of 2027 profit.
Key points
- $59.2 trillion of custody assets at quarter end, up 14.5% from last year, anchors servicing fees.
- $4.00 billion of third quarter revenue rose 12.9% from last year but missed by 1% and the stock fell 4%.
- 11.0% CET1 capital with a 69% payout ratio funds buybacks and a $0.92 quarterly dividend.
The call
The market prices doubt, not disaster. At $167.25 the stock trades near 12 times my 2027 profit view. That implies fee growth stalls and interest income fades. The 4% drop on October 14 shows that fear.
Shares fell 15 percent from high despite record assetsRallies daily closes, Dec 2025 to Oct 14 2026.
I see a steadier compounder instead. Servicing fees rose 10% and management fees rose 20% on record assets. Buybacks cut shares 7% in two years while deposits support interest income. That mix funds $14.20 of profit and a higher price.
Valuation
| Driver | Estimate |
|---|
| 2027 revenue | $16.92 billion |
| 2027 pre-tax income | $5.37 billion |
| 2027 earnings per share | $14.20 |
| Target multiple | 13.5 times |
| 12-month target | $192.00 |
Custody peers trade near 15 times earnings. I use 13.5 times for pricing pressure and market risk. At 15% upside the reward outweighs a flat market year.
Risks
- Market fall cuts custody and management fees, which would show in lower average equity levels and ETF outflows.
- Deposit outflows or lower rates shrink interest income, which would show in margin below 1.05% and lower earning assets.
- Pricing cuts or lost mandates slow servicing growth, which would show in backlog below $300 million and weak wins.
What would change my mind
A fourth quarter with net asset outflows and falling net interest income would break the growth case.
