The market is about right about the seed franchise. Licensing and lower royalty costs should lift profits, but seasonal cash demands and separation litigation limit the opportunity. My twelve-month target is $83.06.
Key points
- 28% is my forecast 2027 adjusted operating profit margin before interest, tax and asset wear.
- $3.4 billion is my October 2027 debt-minus-cash forecast, not a reported balance.
- $83.06 a share is my twelve-month target; the opportunity supports a hold.
The call
The market is about right. At my 19-times business-profit multiple, today's quote requires roughly a 26% margin on forecast 2027 sales. That demands continued improvement, but not extraordinary growth. The technology franchise deserves a premium because farmers buy yield protection, not simply the cheapest seed.
Spring seed profits must fund the rest of the year ($ millions)- Seed sales
- Predecessor seed EBITDA
Corteva seed summaries and 2025 comparative 10-Qs; reported through June 30, 2026. Not standalone Vylor EBITDA.
I expect profits to improve modestly faster. Licensing, lower royalty payments and productivity should lift the 2027 margin to 28%. I forecast sales growth of about 5%, rather than a crop-demand boom. November's first independent report should reveal whether corporate costs and farmer collections support that progress.

The calculation uses 670 million forecast diluted shares, allowing modest employee-award dilution without assuming repurchases. The premium is worth $9.28 a share and depends on sustained pricing and licensing growth. The sensitivity below shows why improving profits alone do not justify buying aggressively.
The seed franchise premium decides the share priceAnalyst scenarios, October 13, 2026; fixed 2027 EBITDA of $3.108 billion, net debt $3.4 billion and 670 million shares.
Risks
- Courts could prolong distribution restrictions or impose broader remedies; watch appellate orders and new liability disclosures, not merely whether the separation remains completed.
- Farmer stress could weaken pricing and collections; watch Brazilian bad debts, customer guarantees and receivables alongside sales.
- Cash recovery could disappoint while floating-rate debt remains costly; watch seasonal collections, refinancing terms and standalone expenses. Opening cash remains unverified, and spring profits must not be annualized.
What would change my mind
A 2027 outlook showing a sustainable margin above 30%, supported by collections and lower net debt, would make me reconsider buying.
