Intel's $598 billion value needs $120 billion of 2027 sales, 82% above my estimate, with foundry proof still tiny. I see $62 in 12 months.
Key points
- $598 billion market value today prices Intel like an AI winner, not a turnaround chip maker.
- 242 million new shares sold at $95 per share in August 2026 diluted holders by about 5% before heavy factory spending.
- $293 million of outside foundry sales last quarter, meaning chips made for others, is tiny next to $5.8 billion of mostly internal volume.
The call
The market is too optimistic. At $113.06 per share today, Intel needs $120 billion of sales next year. That goal at 5 times sales next year (price paid per dollar of yearly sales) is 82% above my estimate for next year.
Quarterly revenue jumps then levels off ($ billions)SEC filings to Q2 FY26, Q3 guide midpoint and author's Q4 estimate, as of Oct 8 2026.
I see progress but holders stay short. Server sales grew 59% from a year ago last quarter. Factory output beat its goal by 25% in that quarter. Outside work, meaning chips made for others, was only $293 million last quarter. Factory spending will top $20 billion this year.
Valuation
| Step | Figure |
|---|
| 2027 sales estimate | $66.0 billion |
| Business value at 5 times sales | $330.0 billion |
| Less $2.0 billion net debt, meaning debt less cash | $328.0 billion equity |
| Divided by 5.29 billion shares | $62.00 target |
| Downside to target in 12 months | 45% lower |
A 5 times multiple for next year (price paid per dollar of yearly sales) is generous for a maker with 11% margins last quarter. Past losses and heavy spending cap a higher multiple for next year. Downside of 45% into next year against little upside fits a strong sell.
What Intel is worth at different sales multiples ($ per share)Author's arithmetic on 2027E revenue of $66B and 5.29B shares, as of Oct 8 2026.
Risks
- Server demand fades on weak buying, which I would see in falling data center sales next quarter and lower prices.
- 18A yields and costs stall, which I would see in flat gross margin near 40% next quarter and missed output goals.
- Escrow shares for the government reprice higher, which I would see in large noncash losses next quarter and faster dilution.
What would change my mind
Signed outside factory orders with cash deposits covering the 2028 ramp would make me rebuild the sales outlook for next year.
