The market is too pessimistic about cash generation over the next year. SpaceX creates a genuine competitive threat, but continued customer spending and integration savings support a $172.94 twelve-month target, even after substantial investment reserves.
Key points
- $172.94 a share is my October 2027 target, with no satellite windfall assumed.
- $14.7 billion is my 2027 cash forecast after network spending and investment reserves.
- 3.7% growth in acquisition-adjusted revenue per account in Q2 2026 supports pricing durability.
The call
The market is too pessimistic about near-term cash durability. At my valuation multiple, today's price requires $12.6 billion of annual cash after reserves, versus my $14.7 billion forecast for 2027. Alternatively, it values my forecast at roughly ten times cash, granting little credit for continued growth.

I expect cash growth, not an immediate satellite-driven price war. Grain's agreement explicitly includes ground-based connectivity, so management's satellite-capacity defense is incomplete. But the release supplies no deployment timetable. Acquisition-adjusted customer spending and integration savings support my forecast; October earnings should reveal whether repricing is damaging retention.

Confidence in future cash decides the targetAnalyst scenarios, October 9, 2026; $14.7 billion 2027 cash after reserves, 1.02 billion shares.
My cash forecast starts with $30 billion of operating cash flow and deducts network spending, lease principal, share-based pay and spectrum/fiber investment reserves. The franchise premium rewards network differentiation, not satellite exclusivity; persistent customer losses would remove it. High rates and the stock's sustained decline argue against a richer multiple, while the nine-times scenario shows meaningful downside rather than a bargain without risk.
Risks
- Repricing drives lasting departures: watch account cancellations and acquisition-adjusted spending, not headline revenue boosted by acquisitions.
- Competition bites sooner: Comcast added 448,000 wireless lines in Q2 2026; watch bundled offers and a funded SpaceX deployment schedule.
- Cash overstates shareholder capacity: watch deferred taxes becoming cash payments, rising credit losses and fiber spending exceeding reserves.
What would change my mind
Two consecutive quarters of account churn above 1.2%, alongside a reduction in cash-flow guidance, would overturn my recovery thesis.
